FULL DAY TOUR – LUNCH INCLUDED

This full day tour to Argolis, the region where are located Mycenae with Cyclopean walls and the Palace of King Agamemnon is one of the must visit important places. The picturesque town of Nauplion the first capital of Greece on the 19th century. The Theatre of Epidaurus world famous for its excellent acoustics, are the most visited places from Athens. Let us show you why… while you are listening to our expert licensed guide explaining all the historical and monumental sites, travelling in our luxury air-conditioned coach.

On this Organized Tour we will drive by Daphne Monastery (with unique byzantine 11th century splendid mosaics), continue by Eleusis (birth place of Agriculture where the ancient divine drama was performed every September in the presence of thousands of people attending the famous Eleusinian mysteries), entering to the Argolis region we will visit the Corinth Canal and Isthmia and pass by the Fortress of Acrocorinth.

Leaving Mycenae we continue to Nauplion, an old seaside extremely picturesque town preserving all its old charm that has expanded up the hillsides in modern times near the north end of the Argolic Gulf. The town was chosen to be the first capital of modern Greece on 19th century. Nauplion is now the capital of the prefecture of Argolis and the province of Nauplion.

We will continue to visit the Sanctuary of Asklepios or else known as the Theatre of Epidaurus, world famous for its acoustics. The theater was designed by Polykleitos the Younger in the 4th century BC. The original 34 rows were extended in Roman times by another 21 rows. As is usual for Greek theatres (and as opposed to Roman ones), the view on a lush landscape behind the scene is an integral part of the theatre itself and is not to be obscured. It seats up to 15,000 people.
